How Our Colour Matching Works
Getting your colour right is one of the most important parts of choosing hair extensions. At Hair Buyers Club, we provide personalised colour matching guidance based on photographs of your natural hair — but there are a few things you should know before you submit your photos.
How to Take the Right Photos
The quality of your photos directly affects the accuracy of our guidance. Please follow these steps:
- Use natural daylight. Step outside or stand near a window in daylight — not direct sun, which bleaches colour, but bright natural light. Avoid indoor lighting, which adds warmth and distorts colour.
- No filters. Submit unedited photos with no filters, colour adjustments, or beauty modes applied. These dramatically alter how your hair colour appears.
- Include multiple angles. Send at least two photos — one from the back showing your mid-lengths and ends, and one from the side showing how your colour falls.
- Show your roots and lengths separately if they differ. If your hair is highlighted, balayaged, or has visible root regrowth, include a close-up showing the variation. Extensions are matched to your mid-lengths and ends, not your roots.
- Dry hair only. Wet hair looks significantly darker. Always photograph your hair clean and fully dry.
What We Match To
We match extensions to your mid-lengths and ends — the part of your hair the extensions will blend with. If your hair has highlights, we aim to match the overall tone rather than any single strand. If you have a strong root-to-tip contrast, please mention this when you submit your photos so we can advise accordingly.
Important: Colour Matching Is Advisory
We provide colour guidance based on the photographs you send us. Because lighting, screen calibration, and photo quality can all affect how hair colour appears on screen, we cannot guarantee an exact match. A slight variation in tone is not considered a product defect.
If your extensions arrive and you feel the colour is not right, do not open the bindings or install the hair. Contact us with your concerns and we will advise on next steps. Once extensions have been opened, unwrapped, or installed, they cannot be returned.
